July 4th

The day before Fourth of July, I find out that there is something going on at my grandma’s house. I go. The older kids like me just sit around. Some of them decide to wrestle. It’s what boys do to make the time go by.
I didn’t even know what my brother and I were doing. We decided to cook for the day. I tried to make shrimp like Bubba Gump and some sweet potato fries. They were okay. My brother and his girlfriend made everything else. I need to work on my cooking some more. I keep telling my girlfriend we should open up our own shrimp place.On to the fireworks! We had a lot of those Morning Glories so light drawing! My signature nonapus.We were on the last Morning Glories when I told my girlfriend “Okay, let’s make the biggest heart we can.” She says okay. I made one half and she makes the other. We then look at the picture and she goes, “Oh yeah, you said the biggest heart we can. Hahahahaha.”

Compliments

You probably seen those, “If you like this status, I’ll post something that I like about you on your wall” things. I liked a friend’s and got this. I admire this friend for her talent, so getting this from her meant a lot to me.

A few simple sentences can really make someone’s night. Give it a try once. It might surprise you.

Work and Play

Thursday was a day to just relax. I got these sweet potato fries from the Pub on campus. I never been in there before. It was a bar and I never been in a bar before. I don’t drink so no surprise. They have delicious fries though. Later that evening, I got a text from my friend Belinda, By Belinda, about making some stuff for these goodie bags this fair was giving away. I hopped on the opportunity. I usually hop on every opportunity, big or small. You never know what kind of doors it can open.
Thing is, I had to make 50 of them and by Saturday, which means I have one day and a half. I honestly don’t know how I did it. I chose to sew all these little hair pins.All 50 of them.I’m exhausted now. I put in like 14 hours straight Friday and 4 hours this morning. I paid very close attention to the details, as always. Well if you want one for free, they will be going to the first 50 who attend Handmade Brigade. Each one is one-of-a-kind and handmade. I know these terms get thrown around lot. I do feel they get used wrong. Well if you want REAL one-of-a-kind and handmade goods, you know where to get them. =] If you get the chance, support the local crafters too. I know it would mean a lot to them.

Oh, and consider this the start of an accessory line by me. =] More things to come.

Back in Business

I put up two new things today onto my Etsy. I’m experimenting more on my photos. Here’s BananaRICH in a little scene I created. It reminds of that Titanic scene. Oh, see that lighter blue to the left? That’s a Thomas the Train pillowcase my mom bought me. She still sees me as a little kid.Here’s my beautiful caterpillow. =] I was actually pretty proud of myself for making this little one. I’m slowly starting to get back into making things including videos and shirts. My shirt inventory is actually running low which means I have to print my new design soon. It’s kind of a bittersweet moment. 

All I did today was this photoshoot and some reorganizing of all my inventory. It’s just about that time in the summer to start working my butt off again. Expect bigger and better things. I’m always in this neverending competition with myself. =]

Patchwork, Long Beach

The day has finally come. It was time for the Patchwork show. This was my biggest show to date. I done a few smaller shows just to get the gist of it all. I sort of got the gist down, so I guess it was time to step it up to a bigger show. I shared a booth with my mentor and friend, Belinda, founder of By Belinda. She hand-embroidered all her cards. =] That’s her catch line. I heard her say it countless times as people walked in. =] It’s part of craft shows 101. I wanted to make more little creatures, but couldn’t find the time. Nevertheless, here are two of my one-of-a-kind creatures. This is BananaRICH.This is my caterpillow. He has a little twist in his tail.The show was filled with lots of dogs.
Lots of little cute ones too. Long Beach is a dog community.Lots of people with tattoos. The lady in the blue is actually the organizer for another show in Long Beach. She helped host the first show I was ever in. =] I seen the lady with the tattoos a few times as well at the same event. There was actually a good amount of familiar faces. It was pretty comforting.This kid’s face funny is priceless. He was staring at my painting I still haven’t made a video for. I will soon though. I spotted him staring at it from the moment he saw it to the moment he couldn’t turn his head anymore.
These shows are really draining. By the end of the show, I’m pooped. It was refreshing when the girl in the pink came along. I said “Hi, I like your shirt.” It said Jesus likes this chick. I then showed her my section of the booth and she had so enthusiastic. She showed her friend, realized she didn’t have enough money, took my card, and left. She then came back again 5 minutes later with another friend to show her my shirts. This is a picture of that. I swear she sold that shirt better than I ever could. Her friend bought it for her. =] She actually noticed all the little details I put into it.  Sometimes, I show people my work and it’s usually hit or miss. This was a nice end to the day. Made me think I’m doing something right.

Before her friend actually bought it, she say no. She didn’t want her buying it for her. Understandable. I been in her shoes before. Either way, it was like 15 minutes later, I see her friend walking by. Spot the mrtigerrr? =] This made me happy. The purple was a hit that day. I only have two left and I didn’t even released it online yet. You know those pictures that just snap at the wrong time?
Well shoutout to the guy on the left for taking it. I like it. =]Here’s the lady that set up next to me. Her work is amazing. She’s so pro. Look at that cardboard shelve. I can tell she does this all the time. The place was filled with really talented booths. Even with all the other talent, I did pretty well that day. It was my best show.

SF: Day Seven (Last day)

I left Norcal around 10 o’ clock in the morning for home. The girlfriend and I, mainly the girlfriend, did the driving. I can’t drive her car. It’s a stick. Anyways, we stopped at Sonic. I saw it on the way up and decided I had to go to it on the way back down. It was the first time I gone so I was overly excited. It’s a drive-in so we order and eat in the car.  =] I wanted to keep the bag, but it got all gross from the food. When I first saw that stem sticking out, I was like “What is it?!” It’s a cherry for my cherry limeade. =] I kept this cup though. I’m going to paint it. It’s going to be part of my cup collection. I already unknowingly keep cups from food places because I like them. I’m kind of weird like that.
I still have this mint. I been meaning to eat it, but it’s been lost in my room.After the long hours of driving, it was time to eat again. Dim sum express. =] It’s a little sketchy looking, but those places usually have the best food. The only reason I’m putting this photo up is to call out that one girl in the purple. She was trying to cut me. Sometimes I dislike Asian people.

SF: Day Six

Since the drive up to SF, I seen lots of cherries. I think Norcal has a thing for cherries. Maybe it’s just cherry season. I don’t know. I spotted the local Goodwill days before I went and I finally got to go check it out. I mainly go just to search through the records. I found five that I really wanted to listen to, including the soundtrack to The Breakfast Club, Bill Cosby, and some others. They melted though. Shouldn’t have left them in my car. Boo.Whatever. Now I shall go on to tell you about this place call the Exploritorium. It’s was pretty cool at first. Lots of science things. I believe this was something about learning how landslides work. I didn’t read it all so I wouldn’t know what else to tell you.I honestly don’t know what this is. I think it is from the light section.This is from the light section too. Obviously.The place got a little bit boring as I went through it all. It’s more meant for little kids. Speaking of little kids, don’t I look more like a little kid by sitting in this big chair?
See how the little kids like the place? I wasn’t lying.
